Matthew 2:1-12
1) The Magi’s journey represents the longing of all humanity to find true hope and meaning. (vs.1-2)

- The gifts they brought foreshadowed and symbolized aspects of Jesus’s identity and mission:
- Gold: Represented royalty = Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Revelation 19:16)
- Frankincense: Represented divinity = Jesus is the Son of God and our High Priest

- Myrrh: Represented His humanity = Jesus humbled Himself and took on the form of man to ultimately
sacrifice for us (Philippians 2:8, John 19:39)
4) The Magi obeyed God’s direction, showing trust in His guidance over human demands. (vs.12)
